Mystery Crochet-A-Long - Part 3 - FREE pattern

Welcome to Part 3 of my Mystery Crochet-a-Long!

Still with me?  I hope it's not going too fast or too slow for you.  Just take it at your own pace.  This pattern will be available here for you to follow for as long as you need it.  Ready, steady, let's go!

You can find Part 1 here and Part 2 here.

You will need either:
-  Approx 1000g+ ( = Blanket) lots of different colours of double knitting yarn, the more varied in colour the better
- OR 200-300g ( = Scarf) double knitting yarn in lots of different colours if possible
4mm, 4.5mm and 5mm hooks (or scale up or down a hook size if you're either very tight or very loose)

PATTERN NOTES:
  1.  Pattern is written in UK terms
  2.  IMPORTANT: Change hook size as instructed to prevent distortion - it matters
  3.  Change colour at the end of every round.  Aim to avoid a set sequence and try not to repeat the same row in the same colour
  4.  To change colour: Cut previous colour and pull through to secure.  Join new colour up through the first stitch and chain the number instructed for the next row
  5. Work the chains on this row fairly loosely as they can be hard to find on the next row.
  6.  Stitch Multiple = 6+5 (add 1 for turning ch)
  7. For Video Tutorials check out my YouTube channel

IMPORTANT TIPS:
  1. Keep track of your rows as you go.  You'll be glad you did!
  2. If your often find the first and last stitches hard to identify, place markers (or safety pins) in them as you go

SPECIAL STITCHES - For Video Tutorials check out my YouTube channel

And there you have it, all the instructions for Part 3.  Well done! Keep going, one row at a time, sew in those ends and check you still have 173dc (or 233dc) every time you get the chance.
Pssst! If your edges are starting to look a little suspect, try not to worry.  I'll be giving you instructions on how to work a magic edging - within reason!

Happy crocheting!

And that is the end of Part 1.  Well done, woohoo!!  I hope that was fun.  As you can see there are going to be a lot of ends to sew in, so do try to do it as you go and not leave it all to the end.  The complaints department will be closed on that score heehee!

Thanks very much for taking part.  Part 2 will be released on Thursday 26 March 2020.  Stay tuned to my Nancy Said Facebook Page for updates. See you there!

Mystery Crochet-a-Long 2020 - Introduction - FREE pattern

Hello and welcome to my Mystery Crochet-A- Long 2020.  Are you excited? I am!

So, it's only taken a couple of years and a global pandemic for me to get my act together.  Don't like to rush things, you know...

Seriously, thanks so much for your patience and for joining me on this new journey.  It's for our mutual enjoyment and camaraderie during this serious health crisis. Your enthusiasm for crochet is super-galvanizing. I'm very grateful.

Here are a few things you need to know before we start:

You will need either:
-  Approx 1000g+ of lots of different colours of double knitting yarn, the more varied in colour the better ( = Blanket)
- OR 200-300g of double knitting yarn in lots of different colours if possible ( = Scarf)
- 4mm, 4.5mm and 5mm hooks (or scale up or down a hook size if you're either very tight or very loose)

- A section of the mystery pattern will be released every Monday and Thursday for the next few weeks here on this blog, starting Monday 23 March 2020.  Check here on my blog and on my Facebook Page for updates
- You'll need lots of different colours of Double Knitting yarn (US light weight), as many colours as you can gather.  I used more than ten colours, but you choose the ones you like or what you have
- We'll be making a big blanket*, so aim to have at least approx 1000g+ of yarn (*OR if you only have approx 200-300g yarn you will make a scarf)
- You can either buy a mixed bag of yarns or better still, try to bust your stash
- You'll definitely need three different hook sizes: 4mm, 4.5mm and 5mm hook, changing between them according to the instructions. No exceptions but if you have a particularly tight or loose tension, then consider scaling up or down a hook size accordingly
- The pattern is written as simply as possible so everyone can join in, from adventurous beginner- to intermediate-skill level
- the plan is to enjoy making this project together to see us through these strange and anxious times
- the pattern is written in UK terms

Now go into every corner, nook and cranny and gather all your balls of yarn together - no ball too small - and let's get ready to crochet! I'll be back in touch soon!

P.S. I'm part way making this along with you so, you know, no pressure.  Hooks are smoking here!!
